JIM REESE, Retired from a teaching career at Gocia, Booker and IDEAL High School, an alternative institution in Venice, first heard Elvis Presley sing in the fifties. He was a teenager listening to the radio while mending nets aboard his dad's fishing boat in Fort Myers.
"I can still remember that moment, The music electrified me," Jim say's. "I dropped the net and just stood there while this dramatic and moving voice kind of soared and seemed to wrap itself around me. Elvis has a different, a warmer quality that I knew would influence me for the rest of my life."
Jim and his wife Judy, along with the show biz greats, recognized the young singer's unique quality from the start. Their home, known by their friends as "Grace Land South", with its lush red carpeting and dramatic gold and black and white decor, is a shrine to "Elvis Presley". Their memorabilia collection is remarkable.
Jim entertained for fun at first, but when he found he could hold an audience, he began performing professionally. He soon began musical tributes to Elvis.
Jim emphasizes that he does not lip sync nor impersonates Elvis in spite of appearing in similar costumes and adopting some of his mannerisms.
"Elivs" had his "Colonel" and Jim "Elvis" Reese has his Captain!
CAPTAIN KIRK, is an Ordained Minister performing ceremonies all over Florida. He started his training at the Center For Positive Living, received his Ordination with Universal Ministries IN 2004.
Planning events in Key West for years, he is best known for exceeding expectations due to his personality and willingness to please his customers. From elagant weddings with sit down receptions, to sunset ceremonies on the beach, to a full blown Pirate Schooner extravaganza, if you dream it, it can be done.
He is now Jim's right hand man. Co-ordinating events, scheduling and promoting. He accompanies Jim to his events and does what is needed.
I traditionally have performed two 45 to 50 minute sets during my performances, with one costume change.
I recently wrote a show/play that has been very well received that entails 8 costume changes during the two 50 to 60 minute sets. This is made possible because I change while prerecorded information on Elvis' life is being broadcast.
I will perform for all events and make the needed changes to suit your needs.
I have in the vicinity of $10,000.00 plus invested in costumes, many as identical to those "Elvis" wore as can be obtained. I have two completely different versions of the show/play, one composed of secular music and the other is spiritual music composed of the gospel music of Elvis.
